OSTEOPATHY - My personal view

As an osteopath, I work with various approaches to positively influence the health of your connective tissue — and therefore your entire body.

My goal is not only to treat symptoms, but also to help you understand the mechanisms of connective tissue. In this way, you learn to recognize the body’s own patterns of dysfunction and better understand how your body tries to cope with them. In addition to applying therapeutic techniques, contact, communication, and trust are especially important to me.

I see us as a team — a team that works together to understand the causes of your complaints, rather than passively waiting for a therapist to “fix” them. I would like to encourage you to become more aware of your own life and body and to take responsibility for restoring and maintaining your health.

Osteopathy is not magic, but precisely applied anatomy and physiology — combined with the ability to listen: to you and to the messages of your body. It supports your organism in finding its inner balance again and thereby promoting health. At the same time, it is important to me to emphasize that osteopathy has many possibilities, but also clear limitations. No form of therapy is a universal remedy. Even when two people receive the same diagnosis, every body reacts individually to treatment — this applies to all approaches in both conventional and complementary medicine. For this reason, I create an individual treatment plan for you that is tailored to your personal needs and your current physical condition. Honesty is especially important to me: if I recognize that another form of therapy would be more suitable or additionally necessary, I will openly point this out and support you as best as possible in choosing the appropriate treatment. I am always open to your feedback, questions, and concerns.

I see my practice as part of a collaborative network in which I work together with other professionals when needed. Because only a cooperative approach allows for a truly holistic view of a person in all their facets.

WHAT IS OSTEOPATHY?

Osteopathy is a holistic healthcare approach that views the body as a self-regulating unit in which structure and function are closely interconnected.

A well-trained osteopath possesses extensive detailed knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and biomechanics, as well as a highly developed sense of touch (palpation). These abilities make it possible to precisely identify and treat tension, movement restrictions, and functional disorders within the body.

All body systems are considered in terms of their interaction with one another:

- Musculoskeletal system (muscles, tendons, joints, fascia)

- Cardiovascular system (heart, blood vessels, circulation)

- Neurological system (nervous system, brain, central nervous system)

- Cranial system (cranial structures and their connection to the spine)

- Visceral system (internal organs and their relationships with one another)

In osteopathy, health means a dynamic balance between these systems. The goal of treatment is to support this balance and promote the body’s self-regulation.

Osteopathic treatment is gentle, mindful, and individually tailored. It is generally suitable for all age groups. Through targeted manual techniques, the free mobility of body structures is encouraged in order to support the body’s natural healing processes.

The fundamental concept of osteopathy was developed in 1874 by the American physician Andrew Taylor Still. Since then, osteopathy has been practiced worldwide and continuously developed on a scientific basis.
