Osteopathy for babies
Gentle support for a good start in life

Sleepy Baby

In many cultures, it has been the task of experienced obstetricians and midwives for centuries to carefully check for and, if necessary, correct any potential stresses that may affect the body of a newborn during birth.

Birth is an intense process – for both mother and child. Even in a natural birth, considerable forces act on the baby's body. In some cases, tension or functional limitations can remain, affecting the baby during its adaptation phase.

Since the development of osteopathy in the United States in the 19th century, osteopaths have been supporting infants after birth to promote their optimal development. The goal is to identify structural tensions early and treat them gently.

The focus of osteopathy is on restoring and maintaining the natural relationships between bones, muscles, membranes, tissues, and body fluids. The treatment supports the body's ability to regulate itself, develop healthily, and utilize its self-healing powers.

Some older children with learning or behavioral difficulties report a history of a very intense or complicated birth. Recurring ear or sinus problems can also sometimes reveal structural tension patterns that originated early in life.

Ideally, any potential limitations should be assessed soon after birth. However, even if treatment begins later in childhood, functional improvements can still occur.

For newborn checkups, I also offer home visits in Klagenfurt and the surrounding area. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or to schedule an appointment.
